Gordon Rushton was appointed as a partner in 1989. He specialises in commercial litigation, insurance law, construction law, arbitration and municipal law, with forensic investigations being his particular expertise. He conducted a forensic investigation into the shooting of the Guguletu Seven and a decade later was consulted by and assisted investigators of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission into the shooting. More recently, Gordon was instructed to assist the Heath Commission in its enquiry into irregularities in the public participation process for the proposed renaming of certain streets in Cape Town, which investigation ultimately led to the dismissal of the mayor of Cape Town. Gordon acted on behalf of a number of the former directors of LeisureNet Ltd in the legal proceedings which flowed from the liquidation of the company. He has considerable experience in High Court litigation and has also litigated in the High Court in London, at the London Court of International Arbitration and in Italy.
