Ceri (pronounced ‘Kerry’) Von Ludwig was admitted as an attorney in 1988 and has practised full-time ever since. She is an experienced High Court litigator and has extensive Family Law experience. She practised Employment Law for some years, developing a relevant skill set which has proven beneficial in becoming a sought-after family law practitioner. In 2004, Ceri reverted to her primary field of interest, Family Law, when she became a Partner at Bowman Gilfillan. She has practised Family Law exclusively ever since and has become widely accepted as one of the top family lawyers in Gauteng and in South Africa.

Ceri's primary focus is on divorces, but she works extensively in all related fields, including maintenance, custody, domestic violence, international child abduction and relocation matters. Ceri regularly assists clients in the drafting of antenuptial contracts and cohabitation agreements. Another field of particular interest is the rights of children, and the parents of children, born out of wedlock. Ceri has successfully represented fathers and mothers in securing rights to such children.

Ceri is a qualified Divorce Mediator and participates in regular workshops on mediation. She strives to resolve as many Family Law matters as possible using the amicable and cost effective mediation route. Ceri’s sensible commercial approach to the proprietary aspects of her cases coupled with her personable and approachable nature have led to her high success rate and high levels of client satisfaction.
Acting as a senior oral examiner and moderator for the Attorney's Admission Examinations and providing pro-bono services to animal welfare organisations fulfils Ceri’s need to “give something back”. The demand on her for pro-bono services is high and although she is unable to take on all requests, she far exceeds the Law Society minimum hour requirement.

Ceri also served as a Small Claims Court Commissioner for a number of years. She now appears regularly on television and radio advising on Family Law matters.

Ceri is the Deputy-Chairperson of the Sandton SPCA and weekends find her managing the volunteers and walking dogs at the Marlboro pound.
