Jeremy Prain joined Bowman Gilfillan in 2005, having previously practised shipping law in England for a number of years.

He is a partner in the department and handles a mixed caseload of wet and dry shipping, land carriage, marine insurance and shipping finance.

Major instructions include:
- Enforcement of a mortgagee’s rights in the judicial sales of the Ruby Deliverer, Rig Deliverer and Mighty Deliverer;
- Representing owner’s interests in a hull insurance claim arising from the sinking of the Shelf Explorer;
- Representing a state oil and gas corporation in two petrochemical contamination disputes involving the Eternity and Banga and
- Acting in the collision between the Anangel Splendour and Harvest Tamara

Jeremy is a past secretary and treasurer of the Maritime Law Association (Cape Chapter).
