Iona was appointed a director in 2010. Before joining Bowman Gilfillan in 2003, she spent some time at the Competition Commission, during which she was involved in a number of prominent matters. She was appointed a director in the corporate department, specializing in competition and consumer law.
In the competition law area, Iona has advised clients in a number of sectors, including the mining, gas, construction and banking sectors. She was also involved in advising one of the banking institutions in the Competition Commission’s enquiry into alleged anti-competitive conduct in the banking industry. Iona advises clients on all aspects of competition law, including mergers and behavioural issues.

Iona has provided consumer law advice to a number of clients, including clients involved in the pharmaceutical, retail, logistics and telecommunications sectors. She has published a number of articles on the Consumer Protection Act and its impact on business. She has also been requested to be part of various television and radio interview discussions on the Consumer Protection Act and its impact on both consumers and business.
