Who's Who Legal Award 2010: South African Firm of the Year and PLC Which Lawyer? 2010: South African Law Firm of the Year

Dunstan Mlambo has been appointed by the President as Judge President of the Labour and Labour Appeal Courts and Anton Steenkamp has been appointed by the President as a Judge of the Labour Court. Both are Alumni of the Firm’s Employment Law Department. We congratulate them on their appointments.

DealMakers Deal of the Year 2009:  Advising SAB Miller and SAB on a ground-breaking transaction isn’t something you keep bottled up.  SAB’s pioneering R7.3 billion Zenzele transaction sets a new benchmark in a broad-based transformation.  An estimated 67 000 previously disadvantaged South Africans will now hold 8.45 % of SAB’s shares without any external bank funding – making the transaction distinctive sustainable and truly empowering.

Ezra Davids won DealMaker of the Year Award 2009 at the DealMakers Annual Awards on 24 February 2010.  Ezra led the team in the MTN-Bharti Airtel talks valued at R470 billion, which collapsed after Indian regulators intervened.  He also worked in the R7.3 billion SABMiller black economic empowerment transaction and on the R1.2 billion MTN-Verizon Deal. 

Bowman Gilfillan was ranked third in M&A by Deal Value at the Annual DealMakers Awards 2009.
