latest ministerial determination

Please find attached the latest Ministerial Determination on the earnings threshold. You will see that with effect from 1 July 2012 the threshold is set at R183,008 per annum (i.e. R15,250.66 per month). (The current threshold is R172,000 per annum.)

Importantly, in terms of this Determination all overtime payments (not just “intermittent overtime”) are excluded and must therefore not be taken into account in determining whether an employee earns above or below the threshold. Similarly, achievement awards (such as incentive bonuses) must be excluded.
